Leading With Expectations and Communication With Timothy Pachasa

On today’s show, I am joined by Tim “Chachi” Pachasa who is the founder of CAPE Lead and the CAPE Lead Revolution Podcast. Chachi is a 24 year Air Force veteran, and has spent the majority of his career calling in air strikes for Army units.   He currently serves as the principal Enlisted advisor to his Commander on the joint application of firepower, in a three-dimensional battlespace, in support of 1st Cavalry Division and 3d Cavalry Regiment operations. Chachi also advises the Commander on all military readiness, morale, quality of life, and professional development for 220 assigned personnel, spanning 13 Air Force specialties.

Chachi entered the Air Force in August 1994, and graduated from the Tactical Air Command and Control Apprentice course at Hurlburt Field, Florida in September 1995. His background includes various duties in Army and Air Force echelons, including Special Operations Forces, NATO formal training schools, Wing Senior Enlisted Leader positions, and Major Command Staff.

Throughout his career, he has filled a myriad of roles including additional-duty First Sergeant and is a master rated parachutist with over 200 static line and military free fall jumps. His assignments include bases in North Carolina, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Hawaii, and New Jersey. Chachi also served overseas in Germany, South Korea, and Kuwait, and has deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Iris Gold, Joint Forge, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Spartan Shield, and Inherent Resolve.

Prior to assuming his current position, Chachi served as the Command Chief for both the 305th Air Mobility Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ, and the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia.

Chachi created CAPE Lead as a way to bring a modern, common-sense approach to emerging leadership styles, and wants to help leaders go home at the end of the day knowing five things:  That they did what they could, with what they had, at that time, regardless of the environment, and whether they wanted to or not.  He hopes that leaders can gain some peace of mind by acknowledging those questions, and he wants to spend his life helping others become even better leaders!"

Chachi shares how to set proper expectation and more importantly, how to communicate them effectively.  We talk about the difference between discipline and obedience, the 8 W’s, and CAPE Lead
