Why We Hunt with Aaron Futrell

Today I am joined by Aaron B. Futrell who is a lifelong hunter and angler from Canal Fulton, Ohio. He has a BA in History from The University of Akron and a US Army veteran with tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a dedicated family man; he and his beautiful wife Christina have three wonderful children, Cora, William, and Evalina. They all like to spend their time outdoors as well as traveling.  Aaron is the author of two books, Why We Hunt: The Five Motivations of the Modern Hunter and The Deer Stand Devotional: Walk with the Creator through Hunting Season.

We take a deep dive into a helpful perspective on the motivations of why humans hunt. Aaron candidly shares a life changing experience while deployed to Iraq in 2020, and how being an outdoorsman has helped him process his deployments. We talk about faith, conservation, and both of Aaron’s books. We don’t miss an opportunity to share a few hunting stories along the way as well.
